Happily Ever After

Greg and I celebrated our 9th wedding anniversary last week.  It was again another reminder to me about how quickly time goes.  I remember our wedding day like it was yesterday.  It was an amazingly beautiful day outside for the last day of July in Indiana.  All of our family and friends gathered at East College on the campus of DePauw University where we met.  We had so much fun and felt so loved!  In the days, weeks and months following July 31, 2004, I would find myself going to sleep at night re-living that day over in my head because I didn't want to forget any single detail.  I think I did a good job of tucking those memories away in my brain because I can still do that today!

Here is what we've been up to the last 9 years:
  • Law school graduation
  • 1 apartment
  • 2 bar exams
  • 1 teaching job
  • over 30 piano/voice students
  • 2 houses
  • 4 cars (2 of which we currently own)
  • lots of traveling including our honeymoon to Moorea (island off the coast of Tahiti) and first anniversary trip to Jamaica
  • 1 Margaret Grace Cook on Feb. 6, 2008
  • 1 Elliott John Cook on March 6, 2010
  • 1 Norah Rose Cook on November 26, 2012
Nothing else really seems important that we've accomplished except the last 3 on that list!

I am so thankful to God for leading me to Greg all those years ago.  We were pretty naive college kids.  We spent 3 weeks backpacking in Europe after college graduation.  Man, did that strengthen our relationship!  Nothing like a giant backpack and sleeping in bunk beds in hostels throughout England, Italy and France to bring a couple closer together.  I have to believe that God knew what He was doing all those years ago.  Greg and I have grown especially closer over the last year.  Dealing with a complicated pregnancy, a flukey (and almost deadly) surgery, and the death of a child is a lot for a couple to handle.  But with a lot of prayer, communication, tears, and support of one another we have come out of the fire with a new appreciation and greater love for one another.  I wouldn't choose anyone else to be my partner in all of this and look forward to many, many, many more years as husband and wife:)
